Come get familiar with the real estate that surrounds the home of our newly elected President and family. A stroll through this presidential neighborhood includes the stately Decatur House, home to a Naval hero and later, a notorious slave-holder. Across the street stand the Hay Adams Hotel, St. John's Church, Dolly Madison's home, Blair House, and the Old Executive Office Building. View the site of a bank once servicing former slaves and managed by Frederick Douglass. Photos can be taken of the White House exterior and tour will end at the White House Visitors Center on Pennsylvania Avenue.

A QUIET WALK THROUGH ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY* 3 hours

Walk beyond the familiar paths. Pause in remembrance and see the final resting places of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice by defending our freedoms in Iraq. Visit the Arlington National Cemetery’s Pentagon 9-11 Memorial. Also visit the gravesites of General John J. Pershing, hero of WWI; Colonel Charles Young, also a WWI hero and one of only 9 persons to have their funerals officiated at the Arlington Cemetery Amphitheater. See where Audie Murphy, the most highly decorated soldier of WWII, Joe Louis, the ‘Brown Bomber’; General Daniel ‘Chappie’ James; Generals B.O. Davis Sr. and Jr.; composer, James Reese Europe and many other American heroes who have been laid to rest at Arlington.
Tour includes watching the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Be inspired by the Sentries who did not miss one step during the attack on the Pentagon and who have dedicated themselves to keeping this honorable watch.

Follow the pitter-patter of little paws through Lafayette Square as you hear tales of the adventures of “First Pets” who have lived in the White House. Your own furry friend (on a leash, please) is welcome to come along. Remember to “BYOB” (Bring You Own Baggie).
Enter your pet companion in the 1st Pet Look-Alike contest. The winner who most closely resembles an official White House 1st Pet will receive a laurel trophy and have his winning photo placed on our website: uctours.com! Reservations not required. Come with your pooch or un-escorted.
Meet at the Andrew Jackson statue in Lafayette Square - across from the White House.

BLACK GEORGETOWN RE-VISITED

Climb the incline, over the C&O Canal on Wisconsin Avenue to 'Herring Hill' - named by the African American residents who lived in that western part of the city. See Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a stop on the Underground Railroad - and the many places of worship within this tiny contained neighborhood. Learn about the prominent citizens, and architectural features of the homes, former retail stores and alley dwellings.
Meet at the terminus of Wisconsin Ave. and Water St. under the Whitehurst Freeway, across from Georgetown Harbor (Any #30 bus)
Tour ends at Mt. Zion Cemetery (The G-2 bus)

THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL:
PLATFORM FOR THE DREAM

The Lincoln Memorial is not only a striking monument to Abraham Lincoln — it has also provided the setting for several landmark events in our nation’s cultural history. This is the platform where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood when he delivered his ‘I have a dream’ speech. Americans have favored this majestic site as the background to demonstrate their basic freedoms and right to assemble — ever since its dedication in 1922.
Walk with us to celebrate the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth and Dr. King’s legacy. Also visit the proposed site for the Dr. Martin Luther King memorial near the Tidal Basin.
Meet at the stairs above the reflecting pool, east of the Lincoln Memorial.

HEROES ON THE HILL:
A CAPITOL HILL STROLL 2 hours

Walk with us from Union Station, where your guide will discuss the legacy of A. Philip Randolph and visit his statue near the boarding gates. Proceed up to Capitol Hill and see Frederick Douglass' first home in Washington DC (this also happens to be his birthday!) See the Sewall-Belmont House, where early suffragists rallied for the right of women to vote. Walk continues to the Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress and then to historic Lincoln Park to visit the statue of Mary McLeod Bethune, the tireless educator who advised four American presidents. Also at this site is the Emancipation Monument, a statue dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, and financed by the wages of former slaves.
Meet at the front (south entrance) to Union Station (Red Line Metro) at the Freedom Bell. Tour ends at Eastern Market (Blue/Orange Line Metro)

UPTOWN ON U-STREET

Stroll down the "Black Broadway" that flourished in the 1920's through the early 1960's. This is the neighborhood where Duke Ellington went to school and performed his first composition, 'Soda Fountain Rag'. See stately buildings designed and built by black architects and developers. Visit the African American Civil War Memorial that gives recognition to the U.S. Colored Troops, Seamen and Black Confederate soldiers who fought in the Civil War. Grab a hot dog from Ben's Chili Bowl, the establishment where Bill Cosby once courted his future wife Camille.
Meet at U Street-Cardozo Metro (Green Line)
Tour ends at 17th St.

Stretch your limbs. Pump-up your heart rate. Walk at a moderate pace and hear about the history of this parcel of reclaimed land. Enjoy a scenic 3-mile walk around the perimeter of Hains Point, the beautiful promontory at East Potomac Park! See a different view of Fisherman’s Wharf in southwest from across the channel. See the graceful Titanic Memorial and Ft. Leslie J. McNair, the US Army installation where the Chairman, Joint Chief of Staff resides. Walk near the bare autumn trees and see the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia all at one glance.

UC Motorcoach Tour
THE JACQUELINE KENNEDY
'AT HOME IN WASHINGTON' TOUR

This event is an elegant introduction to the world of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, while she lived in the nation's capital. In 1941, she was a middle school student here in Washington, DC. Twenty years later she was the First Lady of the nation.
This tour views some of her favorite places and details the many examples of how important she considered the idea of home and how she influenced the American home of the 60's - and American society for all time.
Tour includes lovely commemorative gift and itinerary. Please dine before arrival. This tour does not include time or cost for a meal. Small refreshment will be served on coach. There is some walking at Georgetown sites.
Meet transportation and guide at the south entrance to Union Station in front of the Freedom Bell.
